Found him dead in a pond this morning. Looks like he had been there for a while. He disappeared from trail camera on 9/15. He had a small injury near the tip of his left main beam not sure if he got an infection or what happened.

Ah man. Always hate to find them that way...at least you know where he went and have his antlers

Yeah, it definetly sucks. The scary part is his running buddy was a big 9 and we haven't seen him since 9/18.

Dang that sucks to loose a nice buck at least you found his rack

Any possibility some one has been bow hunting your place, without your knowledge? Sure a downer, but the possibility of 2 good bucks makes me wonder..............

Any things possible if he was shot I doubt they were on our place his core area was near our north boundary but when I first found him there appeared to still be velvet around the base of his points so I think he died soon after he stopped coming to the camera we were getting him on on a daily basis in mid September. We have very few coyotes in our area and his entire skeleton was still in one place I didn't see any signs of being shot with arrow or bullet as all the bones were still in tact. I'm not saying it isn't possible if you'll notice in that picture above his ribs started showing towards the middle of the month and he appeared to have lost weight from the first of the month. We weren't sure what was going on as he was still eating corn and protein. That's why I was leaning towards some kind of infection.

Infection, or age would make more sense, going to water sounds like and injury, or "burning" of some kind. In any case, sucks, nice buck.

Yeah we were looking for him this year. Teeth show him to be 6 1/2.
