Looks like I am going to build a gun off the 7mm 162 grain. I can run match or hunting bullets.
Now what caliber to do... Don't want a barrel burner

Sweet it's their version of s Nosler ABLR!!! Except ABLR is still a bonded core bullet. I have had poor results with the interlock bullets, and core separation/over expansion etc. I will probably still buy some of these though

I may be by myself in this opinion, but I find the bullet selection lacking(so far). I hope they step it up with a better menu of available projectiles.

I was looking at the offerings for the new ELD-X in 6.5mm 143gr. It listed two BC's a G1 at .625 and a G7 at .315. What doe's the G1 & G7 stand for and the difference? I'd like to try this in a Savage 11 and a large frame AR both in 6.5 CM just to see.

Simple answer is when you have a G7 BC given for a bullet use it. The G7 is a more accurate number with Boat-tail style bullets. The G1 works fine with flat base bullets. If you want detailed info check into Brian Litz writings on the subject. Also I want everyone to note the new tip DOES look sorta resemble candy corn....

Think this might be a lil gimmicky. Ive used sst's that wheb loaded are half moa out to 700 yds. How much better can these do than that?

There are tons of people that are into shooting far that do not use SMKs anymore.
There is no gimmick to a significant improvement of BC. And when a company can make a significant improvement in BC while not adding length/ weight, or at least not adding the equal percentage in weight, then we are getting better performance. Higher BC yeilds more retained velocity, which yeilds less wind drift and more retained energy down range.

SMK are being changed to include pointing the bullets to increase BC. There are only two things that beat the wind...speed and BC. Guys that shoot 200y and under won't notice that much difference but the target market for these new changes are not geared for that crowd.
What's really impressive about this bullet is it has the increased BC but is designed to expand...not like the SMK and Hybrids.
I think they are onto something but I'm a Berger or custom guy and will wait and see what the true numbers guys report and how they do before I pass judgement.

Judd says "I think they are onto something but I'm a Berger or custom guy and will wait and see what the true numbers guys report and how they do before I pass judgement." True that time and real world testing will follow and we see if it holds water. Nothing wrong with a smoother tire!
