I should have some hands on range time in the next couple weeks, weather allowing, on a TC Venture 270 I picked up last spring.

Fit, finish and crispness of everything looks like a more expensive rifle...but as has been pointed out any time the subject of Venture's come up, IMO the magazine is bit cheesy feeling.

As many of these things are being sold during the 2nd year of the $75 Rebate, I suspect some enterprising outfit will build a aftermarket brand of magazines eventually.

Most of the dealer's I see on GB selling these are in specific parts of the US, with very few dealers in Texas and the Southwest & lots of dealers in the South East up thru New England, the upper Midwest & Ohio River Valley states. I've bought 2 of these in the last 2 years, sold the 1st one locally and wish I hadn't now, 'cause the GB price I paid then is not doable anymore even with the same $75 Rebate ...so I am seeing a rise in the Net Net cost from below the Ruger American, to equal or even a tad higher...which tells my old Gun Bidnizz marketing instincts that if I want some more of these Ventures at a best price possible NOW is the time to buy'em.

I saw Ruger 77's go thru this same growth curve when Tanger's 1st came out & I was "force feeding" my dealers to buy 'em, and Mr Bill Ruger himself was still alive, offering small runs of "specialty" calibers and slight alterations that are now worth beaucoup bux.

FWIW...IMO if the Ventures wouldn't shoot as advertised or better...this rise in the Net retail price would not be occuring...S&W is filling a market share they've never had access to before since they lost the Howa connection years ago to Weatherby's all slicked up Vanguard version that is now prolly 90%+ of Weatherby's rifle sales....and both of the the V labeled rifles, plus the extensive Savage line have about taken over the market share of the bottom line of Winchester M70's.
