I would like to put a scope of some sort on my Charles Daly 20 ga. but the problem is, the only one that made a saddle mount for it which was B-Square, has discontinued that item. The item number is BS16460, if any one has one they want to get rid of or should run across one please let me know. I called a gunsmith and it is $120.00 to drill and tap, so that is another option for me. Is there anything that I might have over looked as far as a way to mount a scope on it? I have searched for that mount on the net until my eyes are about to explode.

Thanks.

Could you take another BSquare mount and redrill holes in that mount to fit the holes in the receiver? Thinking about the Rem 870 or Mossberg 500? Have you checked Williams sight company?

The mount for the 1100/11-87 has a bigger screw on the rear of the mount and it also wasn't long enough to reach the mounting holes completely. I had bought one hoping it would fit but it didn't so I put it on another Remington that I had.

A buddy put a B-Square on his 870 because he didn't want to drill & tap it.

After the B-Square broke, he ended up having it drilled & tapped.

He was shooting slugs.
I believe it broke with less than 15 rounds through it.

Are you saying you want a smooth bore standard barrel? Or that is what you have?

I don't know if anyone makes the specific barrel you want with a cantilever for your Charles Daily, but I have seen Charles Daily shot guns with cantilever barrels for mounting a scope

I have a Charles Daly 20 ga. with a standard barrel, I'm looking to put a scope on it and use the saddle type mount that goes on the receiver but the one made by B-Square has been discontinued. Trying to find someone who might have one or hoping someone might run across one.

The reason that B-Square discontinued that mount - is that the Charles Daly semi-auto's receiver is only about 1/16" thick at the top, where you would drill and tap it. - I found out the hard way. Trust me, 1/16" of aluminum is not much to hold a scope by two 6-48 screws under the recoil of a shotgun.

If you can't find a cantilever mount, then I'd skip it if I were you.

Kind regards, charlesb

All the more reason for B-Square to continue to make that mount. I certainly don't want to buy a new barrel with a cantilever mount made on it. If there isn't enough metal to drill and tap on the receiver then I guess I will be shooting this gun at turkeys with the stock sights. Or option B, go to my trusty 870 since it has a scope on it already and I also have a rifled barrel with a cantilever and a scope for it as well.

I was going to suggest a different shotgun, but I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Kind regards, charlesb

Just one of those things, I got this 20 ga. and really like it and wanted to try and use it for just about everything. You know how men are, if we want to do something, we usually do it or try like crazy trying to get it done. Lol.
