There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Please sell me on the 16 gauge. I had a 870 in 16g once and didn't care for it. To me it was like shooting a heavy 20g load or light 12g load. Or is it just a romantic thing.

That 870 was built on a 12 gauge frame and weighed a bit more than the 12 gauge. Once you shoot a true 16 gauge framed gun you will understand the magic. They are incredible pheasant, quail, hun, and grouse guns.

I really enjoyed my grandpas 16, but I don't know if I would want a new one because of the price and availability of shells.

Ok. I get that but the recoil was crazy.
I think one of my buddies have a 16g in a browning. I'll borrow it and try it out.

Nothing better than having the shot load of a heavy 20 ga. and the recoil of a heavy 12.
