I hunt west of Goldthwaite. Been seeing a good number of deer. As well as a few mature bucks. I was lucky enough to harvest a 13 point 2 weeks ago with a crossbow. It was the largest buck I've ever killed. So things are looking good in the part of mills county that I hunt.

Haven't seen the big boys since the end of September still seeing a lot of does and young bucks. Taken 6 does so far got a long way to go for the MLDP recommendation. Hopefully we can get some rain this week and start the food plots growing.

Just in the last week, bucks have split up and getting less tolerant of each other. I saw a few mature bucks pushing does yesterday evening. Acorns are falling and they are leaving some corn behind. We need this rain coming badly.

East mills county showing excellent activity. Bucks / does at feeders. We had two 10 pointers, two 8 pointers and a variety of young bucks that are still too young. we had one 10 point that appeared to be a legit 5 or 5 1/2 yr old. He was heavy wide and tall. I would say he would push 150's but I am not as good measuring on the hoof as some of the other guys on here had a bad wind to set the bow stands so had to observe from the rifle stands.

Couple miles from lampasas/mills county line in mills off 183. In the last week the bucks have started separating. Hunted all weekend and never saw a doe only bucks. Everything I saw with the exception of a mature 8 (too far to draw back on) is too young. Keeping the neighbors at bay is my biggest challenge. Does all hitting feeders at night which is out of the norm for my area.
