I've been carrying a pocket radio and ear buds to the stand or years now. Between talk radio and football games, nothing helps pass the time any better. And if you choose the right pair of ear buds and keep the volume down low (which is easy given the quiet of the woods), you can still hear the sound of movement around you. Until now, I've been carrying a cheap model. Decided to upgrade to a better one with all the better features, including auto shut off to save batteries. And unlike most pocket radios these days, it has an internal speaker for those times when you want to listen in normal fashion. http://www.abt.com/resources/pages/search.php?keywords=Pocket+radio

This is my first time ordering from this company but so far I'm very impressed with them. Very fast order confirmation and shipping (free) via UPS who provides excellent tracking. Any company that chooses UPS over the USPS gets an immediate high mark from me. I ordered the item on Sunday and it's scheduled for delivery this Thursday at no additional charge.

Couple years ago I purchased a Sangean AM/FM/Weather radio. Great product, great sound, great NOAA reception, best $50 I ever spent for the lease. Our lease is between Eastland and Breckenridge and I can pick up 102.7 The Bear out of Abilene.

Our lease is between Eastland and Breckenridge and I can pick up 102.7 The Bear out of Abilene. Mine arrived yesterday and it's exactly what I was looking for. Great RF sensitivity and the digital frequency control is a 300% improvement over the analog dial on my old cheap pocket radio. It does have an analog volume setting, but that's okay. The backlit panel will also make it easier to get going on those early mornings. However, do not buy it if your looking for high fidelity sound. While the overall sound quality is clear and much better than cheap pocket radios, even with good quality ear buds it's not CD quality audio. But for listening to games and talk radio, as well as low volume music while hunting, it's perfect. Five stars.

Just to update those interested, I've been using the radio since the season opener and love it. Great reception and the digital tuner makes it a breeze to pick up specific stations without the bleed over you often get with an analog tuner. The backlit display is easy to see in those pre-dawn hours, and the settings lock switch keeps the unit from changing stations or turning itself on when being handled or carried in a backpack. Yes, it's more expensive that other pocket radios, but well worth the price, at least IMHO. http://www.abt.com/product/71026/Sangean-DT200X.html

I have taken my mp3 to the rifle stand and it is nice. However bowhunting I couldn't do it as it's too close, too quiet.
