Have a Nilgai hunt opening rifle weekend. Can also shoot unlimited does and cull bucks and obviously hogs.

Was concerned my .308 was a little light, though I'm sure some of you snipers could kill a Nilgai bull with it. I inherited a 700 built in the 60s from my grandfather, but it was horribly gummed up. Trigger engaged when you took safety off because it stayed permanently depressed. Guy at the gun shop said it was a really well built gun from when Remington used to be one of the very best guns on the planet and it should perform flawlessly with a little work.

Spent some money on a good, thorough cleaning, put a new scope on, and this little bird is ready to sing...

7mm mag - just gotta sight it in.

Hope you have a good hunt. Premium bullets are the key. I took a Nilgai about 12 yrs. ago. I used a 338-06 AI and 225gr. interlocks. The bullet didn't penetrate all the way through on a chest cavity shot.

Nice looking rifle. The guns with family history are always my favorites.

If you do your part right no doubt the rifle, bullet will as well.

That, sir, is a good looking rifle. Congrats on calling her number and getting her back in the game. Best of luck on the hunt, too!
