Just received my new CVA Accura V2 MR Nitride.

I shopped around for quite a while, read reviews, and found the best price on www.muzzle-loaders.com. They were very helpful when I called, had low cost shipping, and no sales tax. The shipped it with-in a couple of hours and I received it when promised today. Highly recommend these guys.

I can't wait to get the scope mounted and take it to the range to test it out. I made one of the draw hunts this year and plan to put it to good use. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who has this smoke pipe already.

Yeah, it is a 25" barrel and only weighs 6.35 lbs. It feels really good on my shoulder, the gun that is. I was a little concerned about the shorter barrel but all the reviews were very very positive. Chuck Hawks had a good write up on it. The guys at muzzle-loaders.com said they had very positive feedback on it and for shots out to 200 yards I shouldn't really notice any difference. I have taken several deer over the last 5 years and haven't really had a shot longer than 100 yards. I will post an update after I get it to the range. I really would like to get it out this weekend but my bow is crying in the closet as I haven't gotten it out to the woods yet. aim

Thats sweet looking. I'm wanting to get back in to Muzzleloaders as well
for extended/late seasons as well as fun at the range!

This is my second muzzy. The first was another CVA but an Optima which I owned about 4 yrs and took several deer with it. I decided to upgrade this go around with the Accura and mounted a Nikon XR inline on it. The Konus scopes are o.k. but they don't compare to Nikon or Leupold IMO. I have Nikon's on my centerfire rifles and a Leupold on my slug gun. I took the new muzzy to the range yesterday to sight in the scope and break in the rifle. I like the Nikon combination and it handles really nice. It is still pretty tight but I was able to put 18-20 rounds down the barrel. I swabbed wet patch followed by dry patch between shots. I was using pyrodex 50 gr pellets x2 and Barnes 250 spitfire TMZ sabots. I did shoot a couple of 270 gram areotip powerbelts with IMR white hots. I like the Barnes/pyrodex combo the best. I will say the powerbelts are easier to load but not as consistent groupings. I haven't tried the areolite's yet. I have read a few positive reviews on them. I will say the biggest differences I seen right away was in the weight/feel of the gun and the trigger. The Accura has an adjustable set to a factory 3 lbs. It had a very crisp break with little or no detectable creep.

Throw away the Powerbelts and just stay with the Barnes 250gr bullets... you will have less regrets when hunting.

The Bergara barrel is excellent...I have two TC ProHunters and a CVA that I bought for my son a while back......the CVA with the Bergara barrel shoots as well as the ProHunters and was about half the price.

If you shoot pellets (which I do) try the triple 7 or the White Hots and the Barnes Bullets. The Pyrodex is a little dirtier. Also, experiment with 3x50 or 150 grs and the 250gr Barnes. I'm very pleased with the accuracy of that combination and I know a lot of folks who swear by it. If you want to have an easier loading experience buy some Harvester sabots to use with the Barnes Bullets.

Enjoy.
