Same, but wasn't a kid, late teenager though. Also would see the Ospery's and more often.

The BE's have been staying overwinter around Whitney for many years, used to see them frequently. When we lived in Colorado, they where common and in the winter there where tons of them when the northern clans came in. Beautiful bird to watch.

There are still a few in Brazos river valley

My son and I saw one flying around when deer hunting near Sulphur Springs about 3 years ago at about 200 yards. It was trying to catch other birds in the air. Watched it for almost 10 minutes, then it floated back to the east. We saw another one last year near Sulphur Springs in the fall, pulled over on the side of the road to watch it.

On both occasions, when the birds decided to leave they went into the stratosphere then floated back to the east.

There has been over 1450 views of this thread and not one person has said anything about one pic not being of a Bald Eagle posted. I thought they were so easy to spot confused2

We have seen them 3-4 times on the Frio River in Frio county. I couldn't believe it when we first saw them, they are huge. I was tracking a hog and saw a couple in the trees and thought I went crazy! Told the neighbors and they have seen them too.

Terrible!! They are such beautiful birds. My girlfriend and I went to Alaska in September, and I was fortunate enough to get these pics of a bald eagle eating a fish on the beach near Homer, AK.
