Looking for another pair of binoculars and wondered if anyone has compared the Swarovski SLC 10x42 with Meopta MEOSTAR HD 10X42. I am familiar with the Swarovski but not the MEOPTA. Have heard good things about the Meopta glass but is the Swarovski worth $600 more?

Never been a fan of the ergonomics of meopta.

Might toss in Maven to your list had the 9x45 and upgraded to the 11x45 and been highly impressed with both

You can never go wrong with swaro binos. But you can come close at lower price points. El is gold standard but the SLC HD is great glass. Personally I'm all about price points. If I had unlimited funds I'd own 10x42 el range and a 15x EL range(if they ever make it) but I don't so I shop price points.

When you get to lecia, ziess, swaro, meapto and now maven it just comes down to compermise per dollar amount.

Maven is a new company putting out really great glass, especially at that price point. Down sides are availbilty to compare(direct to market company) and company history(very new).

Vortex in my eyes on their upper end was king of price point but they have crepted up a bunch in the last year. Still a good deal but not the great deal they use to be.

I've owned both and still own the Meopta. Both were the non-HD version. The only thing I saw that the Meopta gives up is resell value.

LOVE my Meopta meostar 10x42. I think it's really hard to do better for the money and they are really close to the swaros in clarity.

Does anyone know if Minox binoculars are any good? I was looking at the HG 10x43s.

I have ran top of the line Zeiss and Swaro scopes on the same hunt and compared directly against my Meopta HD 10x42s
If there's a difference, I can't see it.

I have the EURO HD from Cabelas, which is the Meopta with Cabelas name on it.

I've compared them to the Swaro because my friend hunts with them and I can't see the difference.

Very happy with them to say the least.

Compared the Meopta Meostar HD with Swaro SLC at SWFA and almost no difference that I could tell. However, I ordered the Maven 11x45 ( cheaper than either of the others). Thought I would try something new and can send them back if not satisfied.
Thanks for the replies.

Nothing beats Swarovski binoculars in my opinion. I've twice dropped one of my 10x42 EL's from a 12 foot tower and they still work like new. Lost a pair of 10x42 SLCs for a year one time. Found them a year later and, while the exterior rubber wasn't in great shape, the optics were still perfect. Sent them to Swaro, they redid the exterior and replaced the objective lenses, no charge. Last pre-season I sent in another pair of 10x42 EL's to have them cleaned, lenses polished, etc. They came back cleaned and with new objective lenses, no charge.

My concern with the other, newer offerings would be longevity and customer service. I know what I'm getting when I buy Swarovski.

I too like the Swarovski 10X42's, almost like having a spotting scope when you add the doublers.

I have the Meopro 10x42 HD. A friend has some Swarovski's, I'm not sure which model. His are a little better when looking at something a mile away, at the distances I shoot I cannot tell any difference. Another poster mentioned Swarovski having been around a long time and wondered about longevity and customer service. Meopta has been around since 1933 so I don't think they are going anywhere. I've used their CS once on a scope and was pleased with the results.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

I have a set of the new Trijicon HD 8x42s coming tomorrow.
Hopefully the weather is ok for hunting this weekend.
Not sure I will be able to compare against the Meoptas as my buddy at the Silencer Shop is borrowing them for an Elk hunt.
But I will do an honest side by side.

My brother has a Zeiss Terra 10x42HD, very nice and while the Meopta is better glass you have to be looking for the differences.
Zen Ray makes nice binos too, we gave a pair to a friend for letting us stay at his place in Alaska.
He was blown away compared to his stuff. They were very nice.

I read that the new Trijicons are made by Meopta and are strikingly similar to the new Meopro HDs. I have no inside knowledge to verify they are the same. I purchased the Meopros and thought the glass/build quality was great. I ended up sending them back because the large ocular lenses weren't right for me. They should be some great binos. Congrats on the new glass!

Pretty sure those Trijicons are a pre upgrade Meopta Meopro (non hd) with the addition of HD glass. The specs are almost identical. They ought to be pretty good.

OOOOOPs......didn't read the above post. Sorry for the repition.
