not fire forming with bullets, doing the cream of wheat thing, am thinking around 50gr

You could just order the Nosler brass Graf & Sons has it.

I've done ff with nothing but powder and used various amounts of pistol/shotgun powder with no projectile and the barrel pointed straight up. It formed pretty well but for a 280 I would just buy the factory stuff.

Why would you fire form anything when Nosler makes premium 280 AI brass already?

Always use near max loads when fire forming. Been doing some 257 AI

Always use near max loads when fire forming. Been doing some 257 AI I have always used a starting load of one of the fastest burning powders listed for the parent round with a heavy for caliber bullet jammed into the lands. Brass comes out fine. You will find that described in lots of manuals.
