I've never tried it before, I was wondering if anyone has had any success doing it in east Texas. I've always seen and heard of it being done in south and central Texas but not east

It will work anywhere, timing is the key. A good buck to doe ratio is very important. Timing of the rut will dictate how quickly a deer and how a deer will respond to rattling. Do not be afraid to make some noise and rattle for up to 30 minutes off & on or so in one spot. If I see deer(bucks) up and moving or cruising around early in the day to mid morning during the pre-rut/rut/post rut, I would try to rattle.

I had a solid east texas 10 point come running in 3 years ago after doing some rattling after a few snort wheeze calls. Not certain what sound he came to though.

There are a lot of things to keep in mind and a lot of strategies. Im sure others will chime in but as mentioned rut timing and being loud are good tips. Additionally wind direction, field of vision, not getting caught with the horns in your hand and no way to shoot are all some things to think about. You are just at the tip of the iceberg though. Field of vision is probably one of the reasons it may not be as common in the east as east Texas is known for its piney wood and heavy cover. It is very difficult to make a shot even with a bow once you have a deer that close and with heavy cover they will be on top of you before you know it.

We used to do it in Mason with almost bucks coming in 100% time. Rattled a few smaller bucks last year in MIlls
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.
