Is it too late to put a winter food plot in the thick woods?

you can put it in and lightly disc the seed under dirt so the birds don't get it, and then when it rains it will be there ready to go. Thats the status of my food plot right now, was really hoping for some rain this week but they cut the chances down to all but nothing.

I'm in Grayson Co. Any suggestions for deep woods plot? I'll have to do it by hand so easiest is best!
