Looking at getting a progressive press for pistol. Which one do yall recommend? I'm thinking Hornady LNL AP.

Dillon hands down. I sold mine a little while back cause I just didn't have the need for it but lifetime warranty and they are rock solid. I would go with the 650 and case feeder.

I have both and for pistol the Dillon 650 is hard to beat and i would give it the advantage. For rifle I like the Hornady OK and the Hornady is easier to swap calibers on too. The Dillon is so easy and cranks out rounds so fast I don't get to use it much as I don't shoot enough pistol to keep it busy.

I will be loading several pistol calibers and my AR rounds on it. I like the looks of the Dillion but it is expensive to change calibers. If I was loading only one or two calibers I would use the Dillion for sure.
Maybe I need to consolidate my calibers down to only a few.

Loading for several calibers would go with Hornady for the ease of changing from one to the other.

I had two Dillon Square D for pistol, sold one and still use the other. Have been using it since early 90's, no problems. I have not heard anyone talk negative about Dillon. If you are only reloading for pistols and not shooting competitively, I think the money you would save between the Square D and the 650 would allow you to buy another pistol or two.

I am a TOTAL beginner and I bought the Hornady. It has taken me a week to tweak it. Mostly because I started at reloading ground zero literally. Just cranked out my first load of 45acp. Changing to another caliber takes about 5 minutes once you have your dies tweaked in. Have to say so far Im liking it a bunch.

The biggest issues changing calibers is the case feeder imo

I have a 550 and love it. I load tons of .40 & .223 on it. I would suggest not buying a square deal; eventually you will want to load rifle ammo on it, and the 550 and 650 have more area to use so it's easier to load.

Either Dillon's Square Deal or 650. If you shoot multiple calibers and want to load for them the 650 is the choice. If just one gun then the Square Deal. I have two SD's and have been using one of them since they first came out in the 80's. Dillon has sent free upgrades for that machine over the years. No telling how many 45's it has loaded.

Manual indexing gets old. I get in a rhythm and barely notice it. If I had the extra funds, I would probably opt for a 650.

Thanks for all the info. I decided to go Hornady and bought the one in the classifieds. I like the Dillon but it wouldn't be cost effective for me. Not really worried about resale and all that . Cause when I'm done with it most likely it will be ready for scrap. LOL

Loaded up a couple thousand rounds in last few weeks. Mostly all pistol at this point with the Hornady. Best tip I can give you is take a really fine grain sandpaper and work over the primer slide bars. Most of the issues I had were all primer related. If you do the sand paper trick they all seem to go away. Also make sure the press is perfectly indexed. Instruct book has exact way to make that happen. Even as a novice I have been able to crank it out. Its kinda addicting...........Enjoy
