I think at night a suppressor helps hide the muzzle flash when looking through night vision correct? My photon xt whites out for long time from the flash. If it cuts that in half or better its worth it right there. I dont have one so I cant say for sure. Hard to get on the next hog when you cant see anything but white... Actually, your Photon does not white out from muzzle flash for a long time. It whites out from IR light reflected off the debris ejected from your barrel (smoke particles, burnt and unburnt powder, metal particles) during firing. On extremely calm days, this problem can literally last for seconds. On a windy day, you might not notice it beyond a quarter of a second or so of just "flash" before it is gone. You won't notice it if you are not running the IR illuminator. This is a problem common to using an IR source on the rifle. It also happens to flashlight hunters who have flashlights on their rifles and who don't use NV.

Same way with coyotes. Shot a double last week that normally wouldn't have happened if the 308 wasn't suppressed. 2nd dog never knew what happened except that his boudreau hit the ground right before he did.

Once I went suppressed for hunting, it's hard to go back unsuppressed. I hunt with everything suppressed now. It keeps everything very quiet. I've had animals run off and I've had animals stay and wonder why their buddy just dropped. It depends on the animals.
This.

worth it for me because hearing safe, less recoil, more fps, and everybody stays out of my business.

I think it just depends on the person and your situation. A friend of mine has one and loves it. He shoots a subsonic 300 blackout with night vision. I hunt a little different. I use a Texas Boars RPG light and my old 30/06. I enjoy hunting hogs and dining on them but I am not out to eradicate them and I actually prefer that the others run off. I might be too tempted to shoot more than one and I know afterwards I will regret it cause now I have two to clean. One per hunt is more than enough for me.

Suppressors from personal experience really show their worth at 75yd-100yd plus. I shoot a 300 blk handi rifle. I have found some very quite loads using pistol bullets. Its very quite and at 100 yds the animal simply wont hear these loads. To test this i had my wife stand at 100 yds range finded and she said she couldnt hear the shot only saw the dust. This has been confirmed by quite a few friends. At 25yds and 50yds you can hear what sounds like a good quality air rifle. Aside from the cool factor im nearly deaf and this only helps my remaining hearing. If you dont mind using ear pro hunting and arent going to try for multiple kills suppressors only offer a cool factor, but for the reasons mentioned its a fantastic concept.

So having the added length on the gun to help disburse the gases should help cut down on that to, maybe? If not I don't care. That's how I am selling it to he wife.

So if you earhole a pig and he's DRT, and you're running either subs or a very quiet suppressed load, do the other still run off?

Plan for at least $1k to get it done. $150 for the trust, $200 for the NFA stamp and the rest for the can itself. Get a 7.62 model and it can go on any caliber smaller except rim fire. But then as mentioned you'll need another $500 for a .22 can and stamp!
They are awesome for target shooting as well.

I have to say yes! I just got a can (Harvester) in for my 300 win mag. Now don't need ear protection and the recoil is practically non existent. Same experience with my .223.

Yes, it is worth it. The only way to find out is to get one!
