Love my 16" ARP 6.8 SPC. Taken deer and hogs out to 230yds with great performance with 120gr SSTs and AA2200. Working now with a wildcat 6mmX6.8SPC.

Can't say enough good things about the six eight. It's proven its effectiveness over and over again. Liked it so much for pigs and whitetail that I ended up dumping my .308's. My Bison Armory barrel has routinely given me 1/2 inch 5 and 10 shot groups.

I'm a HUGE 270 fan. But I can't get on board for the 6.8 yet, when it comes to AR's. Comparing the 6.8 to the 300 blk out, the blk out is just so much more versatile. Yes, the 6.8 has more power than a 300 blk out, but not by much. In a 16 barrel, a 115 Berger runs 2300+ fps. A 6.8 pushes the same weight bullet only 100 fps faster (maybe 150) in the same 16" barrel. The 30 cal bullet choices and variety are about 10X that of the 6.8. In the AR platform, the conversion for 300 blk out uses all existing components as 223, like bolt carrier, mags, etc. It's just hard for me to sway from the 300 blk out. I'm a huge .270 fan also but the 6.8 doesn't happen for me. That's why there were so many choices so that everyone can be happy. .300 BO doesn't happen for me either but if I ever decide to go subsonic and suppressed then it will. I really like .260 Rem and 6.5 CM in an AR though.
Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

6.8 is really best with the lighter weight bullets. You can get some great velocities with the 85 or 90gr projectiles. But I guess there are a few 30cal loadings that light, so it's a draw between them. Either's suitable, just pick what you want and get good with it.
However, the advantage of both of those is that they're able to use a regular AR15 lower. Once you step up to .308, 6.5, and .260, you're heading down a far more expensive road with the AR10 platform. If you aren't going to take advantage of the long-distance capabilities of those calibers, there's no reason to build an AR in them. 6.8 and .300blk do just fine within 300 or 400 yards for probably half the cost of an AR10.

Been running them for the last 7-8 years, lost count years ago on how many hogs and deer my 6.8 has killed. Had several 16 and 18" barreled versions and run the 16
If you handload you can get the 95g Barnes TTSX to 2850fps easily out of a 16" I have ran every bullet available and the 95 TTSX was my go to for years. I switched over to the factory 120 sst load because it is just as effective and I don't have time to reload these days.
I have used the 300 blackout and still have one in the safe. My middle kid asked for a 6.8 after hunting with a 300 Blackout for a season.
It just works.

I have a 16" Wilson Combat 6.8 and an 18" Wilson Combat 308, I grab the 6.8 more for hunting.. My son has a 16" build with the same lightweight 16" Wilson Combat barrel He loves it! He got this pig and a cull buck both at 200 yards within about 5 minutes of each other with his 6.8 and 120SSTs

I have shot alot of hogs and 4 deer with it and was not sure about it. Had to follow up on a few shots on the deer till i shot a nice buck this fall but used a varmit load on it and it was instant dirt nap. will use it and same ammo this fall and see if was a fluke.
