I have the above truck and it only gets used as my hunting vehicle in the fall. The rest of the year it sits except for the occasional driving to keep it from stagnating. I'm the only owner it's ever had, and the interior still looks new.
It has 225,000 miles on it and everybody tells me to hang on to it for the engine since it's the last year they made that beast.
What's the point in keeping it? The value has actually gone up a bit over the years, but will it ever be anything special in my lifetime?
Just interested in some pros and cons to selling it.

My encouragement to keep it would be what is a new one going to do for you that it wont? other than cost you 60k and probably be less reliable.

My boss has a 2003 with about 280k on it now, sure he has had to work on some things, but its still in great shape, looks great etc.

It's kind of like an old huntin buddy now, but on long trips the lack of "modern" things really starts to become noticeable.I get ready to go ahead and sell it, then change my mind.
I keep telling my 8 year old that's going to be his first truck to scare him.
Might be after all!

I'd check to see what you can get for it realistically. If it's enough to help with a purchase of a new one then sell it, if not it doesn't cost you much to sit there. I personally have an '02 7.3 that I will never get rid of. I've got a new diesel for my daily driver and my 7.3 for when the new one is in the shop... Which is quite a bit.

That's one of the things I'm considering. It's great to have as a back-up vehicle, but as a long haul trailer pulling truck you miss the newer comforts. It's not my daily driver and I don't need it for trade value, plus I pay full coverage insurance on it.
Think I just talked myself into selling it.
A new suppressed AR with thermal sounds better to me. Thanks for your replies.

All the interest here should be an indication as to why you should not sell it.

I've got a 02' F250 crew cab 4 x 4 w/7.3 Lariat that has 81k original miles on it. It's all original. Tomorrow I'm replacing the 16" wheels with 20" Factory Ford wheels that came off a '13 F250. 16" just look to small. This was "
the truck" back in the day and I admit, I do miss the updated extras of today's trucks. It's not my daily driver but I wouldn't take for it.
I had a 2011 F350 dually 4 x 4 crew cab with all the bells and whistles a that had the 6.4 in it. It's stayed in the shop more than out of the shop. The High pressure pump went out on it. Have to pull the cab to replace it and that was it. Unload the junk!! Came across this truck and scooped it up. Had all the car fact, oil changes every 3000 miles, ect... An older man bought it brand new in 02 and sticker was 41,600.00. It doesn't, (didn't) have a scratch on it and the leather is perfect.
My humble, but accurate opinion, is.... keep it.

I love my 2002 f-350. I have put it up for sale a couple times but got cold feet each time I did. I just rolled 200k and it runs better than ever. Never been programmed. I average 18mpg.

I have a 2000 F250 7.3. It has 380,000 miles, still pulls like a champ. I have thought about upgrading, but I am kinda like you...it's like an old hunting buddy, I Just enjoy it too much. It's crazy how well they hold their value even with high miles.

I have a '99 F350 4x4 with 400,000 miles, still runs great. Took it to Performance Top Drives in Three Rivers and had the entire truck sprayed with bedliner. No more worries about driving through the mesquite now.

If I were you I'd keep your F250.

While it's not a Ford or a 7.3, I have a 95 Tahoe that I drive daily. Before that it was an 88 GMC half ton. Both were reliable, got 15 or so MPG, and were cheap to work on if they did need repair. I don't see a need to buy a new vehicle when an older, cheaper one will get the job done just the same.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

I just moved our Avalanche with 300k on it to the deer lease. Consider it a cheap yearly investment by keeping it. Call that investment preventive damage control on your daily driver.

I'm new to this forum and can not figure out how to post things in the classifieds part. Can anyone point me into the right direction? Since y'all are speaking of Ford's, this is what I'm trying to sell.

Sure I'll point you in the right direction, just make 98 more legitimate post and the mods will let you into the classified section. Or you can pay some money to join, PM a moderator if interested.
