The barrel mount will allow you to pull the barrel and maintain your zero. With that said if you use a red dot/holographic sight make sure you get one that is but for the recoil forces that are exerted with slug guns as its a lot more the your normal bird or buckshot. Personally I would get a 2-7 power scope that is built for slug guns as it will have longer eye relief to keep you from getting hit in the face. On a side note that gun is capable of shooting out to 250 yards with the right slugs if you decide to do so. Just be prepared to be spending 3-4 dollars for each slug as you can not shoot a rifled slug in a rifled barrel which will drive up ammo cost instantly.

I had a red dot mounted on my Mossberg 500 (smooth bore) shooting the slugs many years ago. I mounted a rail on the receiver, and put a simple 4 moa red dot on it. It worked ok. Accuracy was not bad at 100 yards. My main complaint was the trigger pull. When you go from a bolt rifle to shooting a shotgun like a rifle, the trigger pull was very heavy. With a rifled barrel, accuracy should be better than the smooth bore. But it's doable.
