What are you boys running through your Tikka's in a factory 7-08 load? I'm assuming the Tikka will shoot since it's new but thought I'd see if there's a favorite load off the shelf that I could start testing.. Danka!

you will have a hard time finding a factory load which WON'T meet your requirement in your Tikka.

Budget?? You will find what you need from $18-$60 for 20 rounds.

The only factory loads I use are in my daughters 7mm-08 and she shoots the sweet Hornady Lite loads from Cabela's. She's killed two whitetail and a black buck, 1 shot each, DRT @around 100 yards.

post your range reports.

That's about what I was thinking.. Just thought there might be a preferred bullet in a factory load that more folks were having success with than another.. I'll post up results for sure!

Appreciate all the replies & PM's so far..

140 Core Locked

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

140 grain federal fusion has performed flawlessly on several pigs and several deer. It also gives excellent accuracy out of my wife's tikka.

This is the only bullet recover out of many kills.

It was from a large pig.

I have shot many types through my Sako 7-.08. I got this rifle 20+ years ago and ammo was hard to find for it for the first 5-10 years. I had problems with getting exit wounds on whitetails with several I tried. I have finally landed on using 140 grain BST and every deer and hog shot since trying this load is DRT.

I also get 3 shot one hole (clover leaf) groups with that bullet out to 200 yards, have not target shot beyond that to see how they perform but very happy with 140 grain BST.

In my Vanguard, to break it in, I used some Hornady 140 gr SST's and some Prvi Parvati 140 SP. Great thing was (to me at least) they shot to within an inch of each other. Both were .9-.7" groups.

Everything I've shot with it (WT and Axis so far) have been DRT out to 250 yards.

Pay it forward - Kids are the future.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

Federal Ballistic tips 140gr, Horandy Whitetail 139, and Remington Core-lokts 140 have all been good to me. This is out of a Model 70 and a Ruger Mk II. Ballistic tips seem to result in quicker kills. If it is important to you, all 3 don't always exit on larger deer and hogs.

PRVI makes some really quality ammo for a great price point, good, reloadable brass too.
