Not trying to dogpile the OP, but this is a deer ARs were designed to protect.

I certainly hope you guys are right and he is just a fat young buck but based on his body he looks a little older to me.

Don't worry about "dogging me" cuz I don't take it personal and I hope all you guys are right.

I can understand some of the AR frustration with cull bucks but I truly think you got a nice one in the making with that buck. Good luck.

This is what I would call a young buck. So guys what am I missing? Why do you say the first buck is a young one?

Skinny face, skinny neck, long legged they both look about the same age to me maybe separated by a year.

No, he's a great looking buck with a good looking rack with lots of character. But his neck is small compared to his body. But, it's not rut yet either, and the neck will get bigger. He still looks young, and would easily get a pass from me. Unfortunately, a lot of hunters would shoot this deer when they see the tall G2 and G3, with good brow tines. He has a making for an awesome buck in 2-3 years. The buck above is about a 1.5 year old, maybe 2.5.

I think he's about 3-4. His back is still really straight across without any sag.

More pics of the full body would be helpful. Any day light pics?
