Each year at my micro show I offer one of my hunters to the clients that are here at chance at one of my hunting knives for $8.00. This is because when I first started out making knives that is what I charged for one, $8.00 each of a matched pair for $15.00.
They must be present to win of course and they put then name in a sack and we draw for it.
Each year they are different. This year has desert Iron wood for the handle, the blade is water quenched 5160 carbon steel. There is a tad of engraving. This is a one off piece. I hope they like it, who ever wins it at the show next month.

Jerry, I don't remember the maker's name but he had more requests than he could honor, and rather than upset people or discuss prices, he had a unique way of marketing his knives. All year long he would make knives of his style and choosing, then at the annual blade show he would let people register to buy one of his knives at his designated price, which was non-negotiable. Then names were drawn and the winners could pick his knife and pay the price. Gave everyone an even opportunity to own a knife, though many would immediately sell the knife for much more money than they paid.

Pitch,
It is at my house. Here is a link that tells about it. jerryfisk.com
I think that will do it but I never put a link up before.

It is really educational about knives in a informal setting. We have people that has been buying knives for 40 years and people just beginning. All levels of life but the thing they have in common is knives. Lots of hooting and bull being shot. No drinking, just clean fun.
This years invited makers will bring a lot of excitement to the place and a high level of work from all three of them.
It is always limited but there are a couple of spots open if you want to come up. No other makers are allowed on the property that weekend, they are all other weekends of the year if I am home. I try to make the show about the invited makers and their work. This show is the only time of year that I have 5 pieces finished together at one time.
We have a person videoing the event. In the past we have had some people that did not want their photo due to who they were etc., but most do not mind. Each maker will have one free knife that will be given in a drawing from the people that puts in the drawing for his sale knives. These makers are hard to get a knife from anyway put at that price.....
Let me know if you want to come.
you can email me at jerryclothes@jerryfisk.com. Remove clothes before emailing. smile
Moderators, if this is the wrong place let me know etc. Thanks.

BCoal, yeah, a few makers have done such. I've done it in the past sometimes, just depends upon what is going on etc.

I have been collecting for 35 years. One of the questions I always get as about their business practices. This will give me an idea if it will increase in value or if it will end up being a field grade knife price.
However it depends upon what or who you are collecting. One of the knives I collect at times is from an old man that died a few years back. I know I will never get my money back but I do not care, I liked him and his knives are just tough as he was. I really enjoy using them, I do not care about the value of those.

I have one of the Camillus blanks that is your design I believe, "Fisk hunter" blade I bought(2). Have yet to finish it but I built its twin(as I bought 2)and donated it to a Christian Men's Society hunting party and it auctioned for 300 bucks, very cool. You make beautiful knives.

Thank you Saf, that's a good deal on the donation.
If they are stainless avoid them please. The stainless ones are made in China without my permission and they are not as good quality. The old Camillus New York carbon steel ones are good edge holders.
