Does anyone own one? how do you all like them?

I have seen them advertised in the magazines and seen one on the shelf a while back. I cant remember if it was a savage or ruger, it was a semi-auto 17 rifle. Does any one have advice on them? I figure that since they are a newist kind of thing they probably still have some kinks to iron out with them. I was just wondering what you all think about them.

I personally like it and other rifles in bolt action. I don't own a 17hmr yet but sure have been thinking about getting one. Marlin has a nice one I saw, but it had the bull barrel, which I could do without. I have had 3 neck surgeries and a shoulder surgery so I am still limited to what I can hold up and be steady before my muscles start to shake a bit. I have had to sell all my big calibers due to the recoil, my neck just cant handle the thump any more, so what says you all?

There are more threads on this. Multiple people have had to send them back; I think one guy sent his in three times. I'd wait a bit.

I am still holding out, quite a few peeps saying they are having issues and I rather hold off until the kinks are worked out. I would really like a semi-auto .17HMR. I absolutely love the .17HMR in a bolt gun - first thing I grab when there is a disturbance in the barnyard.

Here's another thread about these. Bottom line is there have clearly been quite a few problems in the initial run at least. Savage seems to be very motivated in getting them resolved, with a pretty quick turn around.

Older thread with some updates.

Yep, sounds like they still have some work to do.

I believe if I get one it will be a bolt action, its hard to bet them, the savage bolt with synth stock and standard barrel in blue seems to be the least expensive one and should work just as good as most of the other ones for no more then I will shoot.
