Id have to say yes, considering how many Deer are taken with .243 100 grain ea year. (My Wife's one and only buck was poleaxed with a .243 100 grain Nosler Partion) he fell where he stood! I know the 25-06 has more KE and better BC? Myself I use a 6.5 with 120s-140s but have some 100s I've tried working load on!!!

I think as with all calibers it is the bullet itself and where it is placed on the animal that counts. I had a hunter use a 243 with a 75 gr. bullet that turned into a mess. I had a hunter with a 300 Weatherby using a sabot low weight bullet that also turned into a mess. Use a good bullet and place it right and most any caliber will work with any animal.

Yes exactly I didn't want to mention the lost deer I "knew of" behind inferior bullet design but its the most important....nothing worse than losing deer cause your $10 imported box of SP ammo slipped its core and fragmented all to hell just under the hide. for twice that amount less than $20 usually you can get good bonded core weight retaining ammo! I myself have found that Federal Premium is as good ammo as I can load sometimes!

We had a husband and wife come to my boss's ranch a few years ago to hunt. The husband shot a big whitetail with a 7mm Mag in the neck and it ran off. We needed tracking dogs to find a quarter of a mile away. The wife shot a big Axis deer with a perfect heart/lung shot and it dropped where it stood. Hunting is like Real Estate. The three most important things are location, location, and location.
