By the time he rubs the velvet off, yes. But not by a lot. Give him a pass and hope he makes it to next year. X2..... I think this buck is a perfect example of what the AR were implemented to protect; he's nice but I'd let him walk. All its implementing to protect is a tall narrow gene pool. I hated hunting in an ar county seein the same 7 bucks that were 6+ years old with 12 in tines and an 11 in spread lol. If everybody shoots the first ones they see that are 13 and up I don't see how that helps the gene pool, yes you will shoot older mature deer and it gives those deer a little more of a chance to breed but all i saw was skyscraper deer for 3 years and those deers offspring as well. Kind of a double edged sword IMO And I don't think he's legal either, need to see him with those ears relaxed to really tell but I'd wait to see what he does next year, hope your neighbor doesn't shoot him

I bet he's older than you think he is. And I'll bet he's closer to 13 than folks think! Yep.

Can't tell without knowing typical body size in your area.
If I had to guess, I'd put him over 13 inches, but less than 14.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I think he's a lot narrower than most think, I don't think he's even close to 13".
His left ear is in the alert position, protein spout is 12" wide.

3.5 yo, 13.5 inch spread. Legal, but definitely one worth waiting a year or two on. Great potential and hopefully will spread his genes next month. I think 82Ag nailed it.
