Wanted to do it this weekend, but saw we have a small chance of rain Friday thru Saturday, so hope to catch some of it. Plot had so much dried oats and Wheat stubble from this Springs rain and subsequent growth, so I had to disc 4 time.

1st photo is after I had disc in my fertilizer, then cross disc to get the "rows" growing parallel to the slope and broadcast my seed. Getting ready to drag and call it a day.

After dragging with my "tire pyramid" LOL I have used a lot of different types of drag set ups over the years, but tires really float along and smooth really well on this sandy loam.

Ye sir, bring on the rain now. I have disc the plots twice in the past month to kill out the weeds that grew and the remaining straw, each time it has rained a little and I got good growth from residual seed from last falls oat and wheat crop. It was almost hard to day to disc it in since it was actually looking like a plot already.

Oh well new seed and fertilizer in and fingers crossed for fall rains.

We use the tire pyramid too, works great. Still waiting on cooler weather to plant. Looking good, Dennis.

Thanks fellas. Here are a few photos of what I grew this past winter, shows what I had to get broke down and in the ground. Another good reason to fertilize as it aids the bacteria in breaking down organic material (primarily nitrogen)

This shows some of the clover mix, it did quite well considering how thick the plot was, Peas didnt do as good with the tall growth though.

Here is a path I shredded to show growth hieght, some of those heads are over 4'! This is after I let it grow out to seed since there was plenty of forb growth for the deer with all the Spring rains.

One with my 6920 Colt for reference

We will hopefully get ours in this weekend.

Our peas have done really well in the past in tall growth, you have to dig through it to find them though.

Yes sir, I had great germination with the peas, I actually added another round of inoculate to last years large seed like the peas and beans, should stay in the soil for a while. Deer could have grazed them out as I didnt get in and look much during that muddy as he77 month and a half.

Ye bet! Have a 30% chance over the weekend, so I may have timed it just right for germination.

BTW fellas, we have returned to lite drought conditions here according to the weather folks, so I was surprised to see moisture yesterday while discing, it was real nice at about 5" depth.

Wont add up to a lot, at least it didn't here, almost .30, but that is plenty to get seed germination for me.

The radar indicated Hopkins county got some rain. I'm here and see no evidence. May this afternoon.

We have blast off! up That small amount of rain I got plus the moisture that was already in the ground and I have good germination at least in the shady areas that hold the moisture longer, hopefully rain comes soon, my plot is ready bust out.

Amen brother, haven't been up in a few days, but will walk up today, native grasses are showing the "drought look", so I hope something, even heavy dew, shows up.

Thanks Sapper, that is "Bela" from my thread last year when she was a puppy, she loves going up so she can swim in the pond.
