Is everyone else noticing the lack of birds? I've tried Pflugerville, Kyle and Lockhart. I thought this was supposed to be a blowout year. Weather? Flight pattern?

Go further west or south. North of I10 is usually a 1-2 day shoot on opener & that's it. South zone seems to hold more birds and local birds. That's just my personal experience. South side of San Antonio is thick with white wings right now. Uvalde is good as well.

I & everyone I talked to have noticed that the birds are not flying as they have in the last few years.

It's called development guys. Austin and surrounding towns/small cities are just blowing up and forcing birds to relocate further away. It's only gonna get worse

Jarrel/Salado area has been very low; managed to limit on opening day. That's about it, 1-2 birds most other days.

Worst year dove hunting in comal county in my last 4 years Ive hunted my place. 2-5 birds a day if they aren't flying with the 747s. Last few years by this time I had well over 150 from opening day to the 9/15 in the freezer. Stinks Becouse my 2 year old GSP finally retrieving like a pro with no birds to work her with. We did bag a banded sky rat yesterday. This past Saturday I was at my other ranch in the hill country to find my birds had been pushed out of there already and a wave pushed thru comal county ranch while I was gone. That hunting sometimes... Il still be out every chance I get with my dog.

That's my point. Aren't many fields left for birds to feed in and around Austin, Pville and RR. Birds, and yes that includes WW's, are traveling further to feed. I've lived in Pville for 20 years and the WW population has dwindled over the last 10 years. Too many fields that were once open and full of sunflowers have been developed and birds adjusted and/or relocated. It's is what it is.

Should have went hunting, but worked at cleaning around the feeder. Stopped and drank a pivo and watched the birds flying, I know I counted the best I could 40 to 50.Couldnt have hit em, but could have wasted some shells. LOL!!!!
