I prefer the old Sit-to-stand. Layouts are overrated

I prefer to sit up, but for most setups a layout will hide 10x better.

shoot way better standing, but there's no doubt that laying is better for hiding in most of my places.

I've grown to love the layout. More concealed and much warmer.

If you are asking which is preferred for comfort and shooting - sitting in a permanent blind hands down. If you are asking which method gives you the best chance to shoot the most ducks - layout hands down. A well brushed layout blind is almost impossible for the birds to see. Once you get used to shooting out of a layout, it isn't bad at all, etiher.

I have gotten used to the layout, but others want to build a larger blind which will be nice when the weather is bad ..so it's a toss up at our land

I really like my Northern Flight layout in certain situations. Very versatile and comfortable and I like being able to see. However, if I have a choice I pick sitting or standing in cover.
We are building a floating blind now though because of how our place is and the need to get out off the bank.

I prefer my layout. To me it's more comfortable and warm, and my dog fits in there with me. I think I shoot better like that also. And It seems like you're 100% invisible to birds in a good brushed in layout.

Although, i have to say, this sunken pitblind (behind the gun on the ground) was the best. Location: southern Illinois bordering a refuge. Flooded corn with some 500 decoys. Blind fits 8 people with small kitchen and 2 bunkbeds. Shot some mallards at 4 pm. Played some poker, drank some beer, slept in the blind, and the next morning thousands of mallards in yo face. Memorable moment. The property behind the guy walking is Tim Grounds

it's not considered a blind if it's equipped as a primary residence

Sounds good to me! Eventually I'll get tired of the long walks, thick mud, and plastic tub for a layout blind.. not there yet though
