I have looked and saved for a while for a new scope on my Tikka CTR 308. I was 100% sold on the Vortex PST FFP 6x24x50 until I went to the store yesterday.
I ended up leaving with a SWFA SS HD 5x20x50 demo. Very excited about this scope. Will be posting results next week.

Good choice.
What kind of rings did you go with?

Good choice.
What kind of rings did you go with? +1 SS 5-20 is built to last, and the glass is better than expected. I've worn lots of the anodizing off the turrets of mine and I'm proud to say in about 6000 rounds the scope has never let me down.

What made the choice for you? Japanese LOW builds the ss hd. Pst's are built in the Phillipines. That would be reason enough for me.

The biggest thing was getting a demo at a price I could afford.

I have one PST, and thus far it has been pretty darned good. The best thing about it is it's light weight. I really like the PST Mrad reticle. But it has a 5 Mils per rev turret as opposed to 10 Mils on the SS, and it looses clarity at 24X o I turn it down to 22X or 20X.
But in the toughness category the SS is the clear winner over the Viper PST in my opinion.
