What are yall running in your Creeds? The Amax is very accurate. I have loaded some Nosler Accubond LR but with all the talk about problems I am thinking about something different for hunting.

What are yall running for your hunting bullet?

123gr AMax works for Whitetail just fine.

I've had no problem with them but only killed 2 Hogs with them. Sight in POI in my gun is almost identical to the 130 vld's. I like the ABLR better then the 130 vld as far as on game performance

140 gr. A-max @ 2800 fps MV.

If I was hunting anything larger than whitetail I may consider a different bullet, but the A-max has worked well for whitetail, coyotes, and hogs. Plus it will always go where I tell it to go.

Think that's a little hot for factory

I don't buy center fire ammo.

Last lot of H-4350 was a charge of 42.4 gr. The new lot of H-4350 is 42.8 gr. 25" barrel is part of the reason for the MV.

As best I can remember, everyone I know that is running a 140 gr A-max or Berger is loaded with 42.0 gr to 43.0 gr of H-4350.

Powder lots vary and barrels vary, so as always start low, work up and watch for pressure as you go. I'm sure you know that though.

I have just been reading a lot of inconsistent grouping and bullets open or they don't.

Chad loaded mine and they are 1/2 MOA, and no issues to 500.

On game done exactly what an AB is suppose to do. No issues with not expanding, grant it two pigs is hardly a data set.

I am going to give the 130 VLD Huntings a shot. My dies came in yesterday, so I hope to try it out within the next couple of days.

A lot depends on your style of hunting and ranges you like to shoot. My 6.5s will be loaded with 130gr accubond for the 6.5-284 and either the 123SST or 129 ABLR in the Grendel.

Where have you seen (or heard) the LR AB not opening up? I find this a... shocking ... statement, honestly. This bullet is so soft, that if there's too much pressure when seating it, you will indent it with the seating stem. Plus, it is designed to open up down to 1300 fps (where most bullets are only good to 1800-2000 fps). I see this bullet opening up very easily. If the "internet" is saying it's not opening up, hog wash.

Does anyone have any experience shooting an elk with the 6.5 CM? My hunt is coming up soon and i cannot decide between nosler, hornady, or Berger. I also cannot decide what grain would be sufficient to take an elk down anywhere from 200-300 yards. ive heard people having problems with the berger VLD hunting round not expanding well.

The only reason i work, is so that i could afford to hunt.

A Berger VLD not expanding well? I've never heard that. Usually it's expanding too much with some fragmentation. I would not hesitate to shoot an elk with a 6.5mm 140 grain Bedrger VLD-H. I would have 100% confidence in a 6.5 CM with 140 Berger VLD-H. Again, shot placement is key, like on anything.

I wouldn't have a problem using the 130 vld or the 129 ABLR or the 142 ABLR(haven't used the 142 though)

Having seen a 140gr Berger VLD-H fail to make it in the rib cage with just hitting the heavy meat of an elk leg I cannot recommend it as an elk cartridge. Yes that wound was examined on the dead elk which was killed with a 130gr accubond from the same rifle with a followup shot.

For elk I would stick with a more solidly constructed bullet:
Accubond, Interbond or Sirocco, Partition, A-Frame, Trophy Bonded, Tripple Shock GMX or E-Tip. If sticking with a cup and core bullet the 165 round nose that have served the older rounds so well would work.

Im with kmon1, when I start doing stuff with a caliber that is questionable for the task at hand I tend to go with a better constructed bullet.

I have no reservations shooting deer with a 223, but I use partitions or monometal bullets. I would find an accubond or partition.

Very grin

If they didn't work I wouldn't pimp them. They may not be the bc monger that some of the others are, but when it comes to good bullet performance on game they got it where it counts weather you stick them straight through the shoulder bones or ribs, or anywhere that is vital. Tuff enough to penetrate and soft enough to expand.

I wouldn't suggest them for 1000 yard shooting, much like I wouldn't recommend a 45 grain hp for body shooting deer.

Seeing some strong performance Pics from Pat Sinclair aka Scenar Shooter on several specie of RMtn critters using 123 gr Scenars outta a GAP ?? CM, with some at some longer ranges, in a couple day old thread on that Other Channel...from speed goats to elk....and good on steel to FJG kinda ranges.

Look for a very interesting set of pics on several brands of "bullets on the half shell" for some detail on construction. As I would have expected Scenars aren't built like everybody else.
