BC wouldn't be much of a concern for me if I were taking a short action cartridge on an elk hunt. I'd try some known tough bullets, like the Partition, and see how they shot 300 and in, then keep the kill shot hopefully within that. But since I have a whole bunch of Retumbo behind a big 7mm I can get good BC.

Seeing some strong performance Pics from Pat Sinclair aka Scenar Shooter on several specie of RMtn critters using 123 gr Scenars outta a GAP ?? CM, with some at some longer ranges, in a couple day old thread on that Other Channel...from speed goats to elk....and good on steel to FJG kinda ranges.
Look for a very interesting set of pics on several brands of "bullets on the half shell" for some detail on construction. As I would have expected Scenars aren't built like everybody else.
Ron Pat is a machine.He prefers a 260 over the others and runs a 6.5SAUM too. I know the Scenar is one of his preceded but he's also known to use Swift Scirocco II's.

For hunting, try the Hornady 129 or 140 SST. The Sierra Game king is also a good choice.

I've killed two whitetail, buck and a doe, two large bodied (180-220lb) axis bucks and a dozen or so hogs with 129SSts. All bang flop, not a step, DRT. Also killed a 180lb axis buck and a dozen or so hogs with a 120 A-max, all bang flop, DRT.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

My Creedmoor gets a steady diet of Berger 140 gr VLD-H,the 260 Remington loves the Sierra 140 gr Gamekings,and my 6.5-06 loves to shoot the Sierra 160 gr Pro Hunter.

130 hvld for me. I think they are over 43.0 grains
