Have ya'll heard anything about these? They are only $16 a box at wal-mart. I can't find anything about them in the forums- only pistol ammo and 5.56 or .308. They don't even list the .243 load on the web site. I finally broke down and bought a box, the ammo looks very uniform and consistent in length. I can't say the same for the last box of 100 grain powerpoints I bought. Have any of you used these?

If they last box of power points was not uniform in length to the naked eye you should have contacted someone and they would have made it right.
Never heard of or shot them.

You can never tell how consistent ammo is by looking at it from the outside. What's on the inside is the key.

If the OAL varies enough to see with the naked eye at a glace id say its a pretty safe bet no?

I heavily shy away from most ammo brands that aren't big/well-known names. They're almost always cheap for a reason.

The crimped or swaged band around the actual bullet was the giveaway. Some were seated right up to it, others it looked about half exposed, and some of them looked to be seated passed it. It was also very faint on some of the rounds, and the grooves in the jacket at the tip were very inconsistent. The first box I shot didn't even have the grooves in the tip, but neither were accurate. Either way, all I had was a box of the 80 grain loads and the 100's. The 80 grain load was awesome as usual. I took my wife out to shoot that day, and they were still minute of soda can, so they got used, lol. I thought about calling Winchester and sending pictures, but once I used them all it was moot. On the other hand, I tried the inexpensive Perfecta cartridges today and I feel that they performed above the price point.

They're almost always cheap for a reason. Exactly! I love it when my precision ammo made by hand and powder weighed out to within .02 grains consistency at $2 a round gets compared to WalFart ammo at $1 a piece.

I would imagine, not everyone has the ability to shoot well enough to see the difference at 100 yards, and that's even if you find the combo your rifle likes best. Some will probably never stretch it out far enough to see how much the consistency pays off with bullet drop. So that is probably where the comparison comes from.
