Is anybody shooting the 17 wsm. Do you like it? How hard is it to find ammo?

I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.

I don't own a gun in this caliber but the ammo is available at Academy.. Savage makes the B Mag but many complain about the Tupperware stock on them. I'm waiting for a CZ version or something similar...

The problem with the 17 WSM is the limited availability of rifles. Savage with the B Mag and Winchester with the 1885 Low Wall had a one year exclusive right to build rifles. That expired and there's now a Ruger 77 available and a Volquartsen auto

for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

I have the Bmag target made by Savage. It has a laminated Boyd's thumbhole stock and 21 inch heavy stainless barrel. Looks like this:

It shoots under 1 inch at 100 yards with either the 20 or 25 grain ammo. The photo above is a stock photo from Varminter But mine is identical except it sports a Scorpion Redhot Scope.

would love the volquartsen but don't have the money... it is a niche gun in my opinon... For places that are rimfire only hunts (up north in places) it has some merit... around here... not so much, unless you just want to be a little different.

otherwise I'm buying a .204 for varmint gun

Last night I was in Walmart, and there was a recall flyer on all Savage Bmags made before Sept 2015.

Jabroni, you're going to love that Franklin. DeereGuy just got his and it shoots the 20 grain under a quarter @ 100 for 10 shots.

I love it.but ive killed off all the coyotes that have been around already. And i dont shoot much just for fun. I put it up forsale. I dont mind keeping it but if someone buys it i wont mind either. It shoots fantastic. And the ammo smells good when fired. I actually took out 3 more dkunks last night that were trying to get into chicken houses.

Yeah i did. But i killed off the coyotes that were causing me problems. So now it will just sit in a case. If noone buys it i wont be hurt. I like it. Just wont give it the attention it deserves. I shoot more pigs than anything.

Man, that's an awful lot of money invested in a rifle just to kill a couple coyotes, when probably any rifle in your safe would have gotten it done.

I really do like the rifle. The only downfall to it is its a little heavy to carry around, however it is excellent build quality.
