Heard there was another guy in East Texas using hog dogs that was given trespassing tickets. Don't these people hava any consideration to the rights of others? I understand the land owner could have had the guy jailed, facing up to $4000 in fines and 180 days in jail, but he let the guy off easy.

They need to get really serious about fining and jailing these guys. Then call the local news so that all hog doggers can see that trespassing will no longer be tolerated.

Yeah, we have a problem with these kinds of inconsiderate people, in east Texas. They think because their grandfather did something there 75 years ago, it is still acceptable. Times are totally different now. I think they ought to outlaw the hog dog use, period. You cannot keep a dog from crossing property lines, and it causes problems.

Interesting thread & post's Have had hog-doggers show up in yard, asked permission ta hunt... Toldem they needed ta talk ta owner... They have hunted here, thry keep hogs moving, just like the, neighbor hood dogs.. Was suprised they didnt chaise last two hogs off before got chance ta shoot... While never got an invite, have coon hunted, its pretty much same, same as rabbit hunting, deer hunten, even typs of birf hunten with dogs... Let dogs go, listen & then retrieve... Yes dogs dont know boundries... Today its all about high-tech hunting... Look at hunting hogs at night me caveman days... They got hog lights at feeders, NV & Thermal, traps getting bigger, & the remote doors... Last hog i got was aided by cam's... Hog doggers just trying ta help with hog problem's, old school, same way i did with pistal & flashlight off, i stayed were had permission ta hunt, the dog's follow the hogs , they just can't compete with high-tech... even with the vests & collors with gps...

Not saying it is right or wrong, just saying that any time a legal court trial is held it will get exciting. Like when you go to Mexico and start telling the Cartel how to live.

They are always a problem in Grayson County. They come over from OK and help themselves to where ever they want to hunt.

Not only are they trespassing and poaching, the think they are entitled to chase their dogs and hogs on four wheelers and will cut any fence that gets in their way.
I have pictures of dogs in vests on my game cam occasionally.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

colt.45, Hog Dog hunters are normally not trying to help with hog problem, but there are some who will bring dogs in for a fee and do that. According to TP&W studies, hog dogs are the least effective method of hog control, with trapping and snaring being #1 and firearm hunting being #2. Many of the hog dog hunters, do not even kill the hog, but will cut the ear with their mark, to let others know that they have already caught that hog. In East Texas, there are many hog dog hunters, who think that they can do exactly what their grandfather did 75 years ago, and go where they want.

Well....you don't want to hear my opinion of Hog Doggin. It would be a rant of epic proportion.
I'll just say this. IF you have GOOD dogs you might take one or two pigs from a group.
Net result: Two pigs 'Caught' MANY more 'taught'....!
In Deep East Texas where I live.... the initial spread of Feral Hogs (some 20 years ago) can be attributed to Hog Dogger's in no small measure.
Spartans ask not...how many, but where!

Yes this is true. Ive seen them relocate the pigs on their hunting spot and then drive them out with the dogs and then bring some more in to do it all over again.
Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

Coon hunters tread lightly and hog doggers not so much, its like a side show act.

the dogs usualy stick out after one hog... Do the same whenn i hunt... More for en & chillen than eradication... Most hog i seen on cames is couple years ago, bout 9-11 at time.. The neighbor hood dogs kept them moving... Seen very few hogs this year... A big round trap with spring door, & like the ones in few threads lately, can catch may hogs at a time, although havent realy heard results.. The snares can catch other animals.. Would say the high tech, NV, Thermal, & the hog lights over feeders have made good dent in hog population... The remote traps people let more walk than they catch from what i seen....

I agree snares are bad for the fawns and not a good option for hogs. Hog doggers can be very effective. However they need to get permission and have respect for landowners and fences. If they aren't willing or able to secure that access then they should face the same penalty as any other hunter who hunts another persons land without permission.

If you know what you are doing, and understand where to set snares, you have very little by-catch. I don't know of anyone who has caught a fawn, or even one fatal deer catch. My buddy caught a small 8 pt, around the horns, and that is the only deer catch I know of. We have caught 2 does in our live traps.

If we catch them they are going to jail. We had 3 trail cams stolen. Game warden said probably from hog hunters who didn't want to be looked at.

Set up 2 cameras. Put one in plain site and hide another, pointed to the first one.
