Simple answer is "as big as you can afford". More exact answer is probably 6-8, 16' ft. panels in a circle with t-posts every 6-8 ft. Most go for the 48" with 2 row cutouts to allow the deer to easily jump in...

We do 15 panels per feeder pen, the bigger the better, especially if you have protein and corn going in the pen

I would not use cattle panels they are way too tall.. I used about 100 ft of 36" high square wire from Tractor Supply. Keeps cattle and sheep out and you can walk over it. That would be equivalent to 8 hog panels if ur sold on going with paneling. I ran a barbed wire strand around it to for assurance. Has been up 3 years no cattle, sheep, or hog breaches.

Right on BaffinBoy. My FIL went with the 52" panels around his protein feeder, square shape, and only four 16' panels. He has very little action inside and when he does it's very few deer at one time.

Yes 36" max and must be a circle.... Hogs bust through a square design but run around a circle pen. They typically are smart animals, I never understood their circle phobia.

I have ten 16' panels I built. Makes a big enough pen the mature bucks are comfortable in. I have twelve of the panels. Just ten made it big enough so I just stored two.

Just built our first ones. Used 10 panels on one and 8 panels on the other. T-posts at the end of each panel where they meet and one in the middle of each panel. Both are plenty large and have a lot activity in them, sometimes 6-8 deer at a time.
We used the 52" panels and then cut off the tops in 3 separate places to make the height about 36" tall. This way allows fawns the ability to access them as well. They also serve as a good place to put the game cam as almost all of the deer will access them at that point.
We will have cattle on the property so we wanted to make sure no small cows/steers would be able to jump over. And we do actually have a small hog that is either jumping over the low spot or crawling up and over the panels as well. Don't have him on camera doing either, but he's getting in there somehow and not digging under.

I'm picking up 24 cattle panels and sixty tee posts Sunday. I plan to build two feeder pens with it.
