Finished my two day hunt, with a limit each day. The field this morning was covered up in birds. Did better with one or two birds at a time. At times they would fly in groups of 8-10 and I ended up empty. Had a great time; can't wait for next year.

Enjoyed having you Chris. If you'll quit shooting your limit in the morning you can stay for a nice HOT afternoon hunt. FYI, guys are hammering away. Lots of limits today.

Sounds like a blast, pun intended. REALLY SLOW down here in the north and south of Waller county. Been great for 10 years, hit a wall I guess. Y'all send some down this way, would appreciate it. grin

Guy is out here somewhere. I was busy with hunters late and didn't get to ask him how he did this afternoon. I think he killed some birds but not sure if I put him in a good spot.
How did you do Guy?

BarneyWho is out here with a group. Couple of his friends got limits this afternoon and some real close to a limit. We're hitting a fresh field in the morning, should be good.

We are 2 miles south of y'all. Reports were great up to Friday, apparently many birds moved out, because it's been spotty.

Still fun with shooting 5-6 a hunt.

Any updates for your place Stompy?

Had my 60 acre field saved till this morning. Had a lot of birds in it this morning. The field at my house the guys shot around half a limit each but we've been hammering that field for 2 days. Got one I've been resting for 2 days, may just save it for next weekend guys.

To answer your question, still have birds, not as many as I did but enough. It's been a fantastic opener.

I shot 5 this morning. Saw quite a few, just out of range, they were not taking to my spread like I would have liked. Started the morning sitting in the sunflowers, but I notice they were flying next to tree line, so move to the trees, then they started flying were I was the first time by the sunflowers... hammer

I started out with 2 mojos, one high, one low, and 7 still decoys on the ground... Then I went to one mojo, then I went to no mojos, nothing really worked well....

Shot one whitewing.

I had a great time, love hunting at Stompys. up

Our hunting was real good until Friday. Yesterday and today very slow.
There are still a lot of birds around I just think they have gotten a little shy of sunflowers.
I plowed some fresh dirt tonight and hope that attracts more birds.

Well everybody's gone. Had a very successful Labor Day weekend, lots of birds from beginning to end. I kept the guys moving from field to field and resting fields so we had birds the whole time. Big Thanks to everyone that came out. Now a week of rest for me and the fields, then start up again Friday afternoon.

That's what we noticed too. Had to switch fields and water holes to stay on the birds. Good hunts all weekend though.

Local birds are getting wise.

Breckenridge has great late September and October hunts for those that take advantage of it.
