BDB,
Thanks for the info. I am out east of Woodson a bit and am buzzing out there tomorrow for a PM hunt.

Limited out last night with lots of birds. Not as many this AM finished with 10. Did bust a White Winger at HIGH altitude as a flight of about 10 blew through at around 9am.
Good fun, still lots of birds out West.

Plan on taking my boy out dove hunting tomorrow afternoon. Anyone have tips on where to set up in Woodson? I have only hunted the Graham field and wanted to try Woodson out now. PM me if you don't want to reply publicly.

I have had great luck with Brad Mullen at texasdove.net. He always puts me on the birds. He manages about 25 properties in the Woodson/Brownwood area. He rests the fields for a long time between hunts. The fields are typically full of dried wild sunflower, dove weed and wheat. The fields have alternating cut rows for birds to feed on. Rates are reasonable at $80/day after Sept 6. Kids 12 and under hunt for free.

Saw a ton of dove out near Murray this morning. All over the power lines off FM 209 coming up out of the sunflower fields.

21 birds between Friday afternoon and Saturday. Thanks to the neighbor dragging a disc on the field next to us.

Myself and a group from church went out and shot this past Saturday 9/26 and had an awesome shoot. Birds still flying, lots of mourning, didn't see any white wings

Another limit tonight by 7. From 6.15 on flights of birds coming from the fields into my tank. Lots of mojo dove. Have not been out in two weeks. Lots of birds out there still.

There were still a lot of birds in Haskell County too but they weren't interested in my mojo's. I saw quite a few driving back to Dallas and figured you and Stompy were cleaning up on them too.
...starting to see some quail too

Had a great weekend and still have enough birds here south of Breckenridge to have fun, but the numbers are going down. I suspect we'll get another batch on the next front. Seeing more Quail here than I have in the last 5 years combined. Suppose to be 99 degrees here today and 98 days without rain. Were the heck is this El Nino??

I doubt it, averages say not. I have a decent later season about 1 in 4 years. Heck it'll be Deer season then, who's thinking about them little birds then.. Got to leave some for seed you know..

It looks like my dove hunting is over for that area. I'm not going to make it out tomorrow morning as planned. But, I had 8 hunts and 8 limits this year. My youngest, who may make a trip out this weekend has had 7 hunts with 7 limits. oldest has 2 trips with 1.5 limits and middle boy had 4 trips and 4 limits. Not a bad dove season.
