Took the new Panther Arms out to the ranch yesterday to sight it in and as usual I'll start with the country boy sight in ritual which is a large flat rock about 300 yards out. First shot hit right where I was aiming so I give it another and it hit the same spot. Stopped and shot it a couple of more times on the way to the back of the ranch where I normally shoot and it was dead on. Hit the back and put up a target at 100 yards and shot 2 shot's about an inch and a half high and an inch right. 4 clicks left and one more shot and I was finished. I've put on over a hundred scopes and never had one mount that close to zero before. The rifle is a DPMS Oracle and the only problem I've found and will correct is the trigger, considering this is a low budget rifle that's not surprising. I wanted something simple and bare bones to throw in the truck and it seems to fit the bill. The LR-308 was just a beast of a rifle and the weight and length made it to awkward to try and get out the window for a quick shot. The Oracle also has a 1-9 barrel on it which is much more friendly with type of ammo I like to shoot. I haven't really run it through it's paces yet but so far it looks like money well spent. Now I just need to pick up some 10 round mag's.

I once mounted an old Weaver K4 on a 10/22 for my sister. I kid you not, first shot at 25 yards was a perfect bullseye! I kept repeating it on another target to make sure. Couple clicks of elevation and took a shot at 50 yards. Dead on again! I know where your coming from. Needless to say I really enjoy shooting that rifle when she lets me!

Nice!

Cheapest option for trigger improvement on that rifle is a Bill Springfield trigger job (google it). Costs something like $40-$45 and is a huge improvement. It's not going to be as good as a hihg-dollar replacement, but it's a great value.

I moved a Hensoldt off one gun to another. Both had 20 moa rails and it was mounted in badger rings. Hit about 1/8" from being dead nuts at 100 yards. Not the same as your experience since you did a completely new mounting job, but I was still impressed with the outcome.

I have the same rifle, I didn't care for the mil-spec trigger. I went to the gun shop and got a Rock River Arms National Match 2 stage trigger. It drops right in. The gun shoots alot tighter now with the lighter pull.

The actual cheapest best way to improve the trigger is do it yourself. Two Wolff springs and a set screw from Tractor Supply and you're done for less than $10....well, after the polishing (assuming you have a buffing wheel).

Pass the gravy.

Back in about '73 my Dad got a Parker-Hale .30-06 and he went to Ray's and bought a Leupold 3X9 and had them mount it.
We went to the range with a friend of my Dad. Dad's first two shots were right on the edge of the 10 ring. Dad's friend took one shot... absolute dead center. I was eleven and wasn't ready for the kick so my shot was off.
Over the years several people used that gun and they all said how well it shot.
