If you have one of these feeders or another plastic feeder and plastic lid and you have a lot of squirrels if there is not corn in the feeder take it down. We had one of these feeders. We had nothing in it during the summer and the squirrels chewed a hole in the top and started eating the plastic from the inside. We put about 30 pounds of protein in it the other day and the last two layers fell out due to the squirrels eating the rims on the plastic layers from the inside.

Don't buy plastic feeders. Coons are worse than squirrels. I made the mistake before as well

I build and sell winch feeders and furnished HCR plastic lids for mine for a few years. Last year I had a squirrel chew through my lid. I no longer will sell a feeder with a plastic lid, while steel lids cost more I will not sell a product that I feel a customer my have a problem with. Stay away from plastic sooner or later they will fail you.
