Won a remington 887 nitro mag at a waterfowl event a few weeks ago. Took it out today for first day of dove and the gun started acting up. It basically quit ejecting shells and locking up so they can't be loaded. If I taped the butt with the shell rellease button pushed it would free it up. Any ideas on what to do or who to take it to. And Yes I did clean it well before shooting. I am east of rockwall. Thanks in advance

You need to probably use 3" magnum shells for the first 2 boxes.

Need to shoot heavier loads to break the gun in. My Beretta A400 xtreme was same way.

Shouldn't have to break in a pump. Unfortunately Remingtons are junk

Lotsa issues with that model.
I was thinking about buying one and 'upgrading' to 3.5 (walmart clearance $250) - but did some research and GLAD I didn't.
Jamming issues. 'Click' (firing issues). 'Sensitive' to how you 'hold' the gun, or 'Sensitive' to how you pump it. Really?
Gonna keep my OLD wingmaster 870 that works flawlessly.

Best advice is for you to sell it (for what you can get for it) , and buy a 870 for dove.

Gota make sure you eject all the way... most the problems come from not fully pumping the gun... I got one... its not had an issue one

My neighbor had similar issued with his new pump. I checked it and noticed that the barrel wasn't fully seated. Take the barrel off, be sure nothing is obstructing it from seating, put it back on, tighten the screw most of the way, lightly tap the butt on the ground to ensure it's seated, then tighten down the barrel screw.

There's no need to shoot heavier shells to "break in" a pump shotgun. I have heard a lot of bad stories regarding Remington's latest products. Their wingmaster is an excellent shotgun but their newer models have had a lot of issues.

Chief? So what do you shoot that's so awesome and never have any problems with? Pretty crappy when you have to put down what others may own and can afford.

One bloke offered me $800 for my 2000 remington 870 super express magnum.

I declined.

just got rid of my 870 express mag and traded it in for a Benelli Nova. Like it a lot better. Remington in the last few years has gone downhill and I can say that cause I used both new and old Remington pumps often.

It might be other issues as people have said or it could just be that shotgun is junk. I had one a few years ago and it was junk. It'll make a better boat oar than a shotgun.
