Looking for an elk hunt for 2016 preferably during first rifle season in New Mexico Wyoming Idaho or Montana. Guided hunt for a decent sized bull. Would prefer to do a tent camp based or pack style hunt. What I don't want on the hunt is to have everything handed to me. I want to be involved as much as I can be. I know that might sound a little weird but I don't want to be the only thing I do on the hunt is pull the trigger. I'm not set on a specific price range but throw out some suggestions and let me know what ya got.

If you can draw for the Gila in new mexico I hunted with Michael De Lao with Gila and Apache outfitters. If you want to shoot a true monster free range Elk hes the man. Experience was top notch from start to finish and im hunting mule deer with him this year. If you dont draw you can get a landowner tag but the price gets a little steep because of how hard it is to get tags there.

Ok thanks. I shot him an email so I will see what he says. I tried to draw in the Gila this year with no luck so a landowner tag may be my best option. Do you have any pics from your hunt?

Check out Lobo Outfitters out of Pagosa Springs. They manage 23,000 acres of private land in northern New Mexico adjacent to/within Carson National Forest. I have bow hunted there 2 out of the last 3 years and they are great. See lots of elk even though I have not got one yet but I know there rifle hunts are very successful. Tent camp, great guides, and just good honest people. I am planning on going back there next season. www.lobooutfitters.comSince it is private land, they have landowner tags so you don't have to draw. From what I could tell when I was doing my research, they were very reasonably priced.

Hello, I just saw your post. I have an outfitter I hunt with in NM that I would recommend. Mark at ironsight hunting and fishing. He has a private ranch hunt that hunts unit 34 just above the gilla. He only takes 4 guys a year on that ranch. Guaranteed tag, Bulls will be 280 to 340. Ranch has private water so holds the Bulls there. I have hunted free range oryx with him in nm 3 times and come home with one every time great outfit. Hunts will take place in October as this will be the rut, can use any weapon (private land)., 5 day hunt. I have pics from last years Bulls if you want them. Sorry for the long post. Thanks
