I have always been a bolt gun guy but am looking to possibly purchase an AR just to plink with and possible self protection with the direction this world is going in. I don't want to spend a lot of $ because it will not get used much. I have an opportunity to buy a new in the box Anderson for $490. Not sure of the model but do know it is not the no oil / wash with soap and water model. Would this be a good gun for the $ and my intended purpose?
All ready

I would buy for $490. You could build one for a little more.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I would buy for $490. You could build one for a little more. Or about $50 less with one of PSA's kits.
