Going tomorrow afternoon. I got some 1 1/8 8's and was planning on using mod choke. I know everyone is different, but how much lead should I allow? Only had 1 opportunity to go to range w/ new 12g so I'm hopeful and praying I'll tag a few.

Don't think about lead, shoot the bird's nose off. Keeps eyes focused on the bird, see barrel in peripheral vision.

Took some lessons years ago from an Olympic Gold medalist. I always remember he said "There's an animal inside you that will kill that bird. All you have to do is get out of his way."
...and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Gen. 1:28

Change to IC choke and remember you can rarely out-lead them.

+1 on follow through. Also, always know where the other shooters are (so you don't pepper them or worse) and let the high-flyers go.

Shoot with both eyes open. Squeeze the trigger. If the bird has no reaction on the first shot, you shot behind him. swing through him fast and pull the trigger out in front. If he dips or puts on the brakes, you shot in front of him, swing through him again a little slower and pull the trigger. Like the previous post, don't focus on the bead of the gun. Focus on the dove. If you are shouldering your gun right the bead should be pointing where you are focusing. And last, have fun. Relax and take your time and don't get frustrated. You will be fine. Good luck.
