Well it's that time again! Got everything pretty much set up ready to go for this season! Have two set ups one by our tank and the other in a syndero very close to a dry creek bed! I'm in Falls City area anyone close have any game cam pics from this season or any good stories? Ready to rock & roll!

I'm in the southern part of the county. We're going down this weekend to check the cams. Thus far our activity hasn't been good, but this property hasn't been hunted in a while. So far the only thing that's found our feeders is a solitary doe and a whole lotta ducks.

Change in plans. Not going until next weekend now. I'll let you know.

Well I went yesterday and got set up in a great spot. Very dense woods with plenty of tails leading around to a syndero that I've chosen. My buddy put his feeder up on the other side of our property by a tank dam. He chose a great spot and we can already see trails being blazed right to his feeder.

I have an uncle who hunts just west of Panna Maria going towards Hobson (along the San Antonio River.) He has seen some Big bucks around. He still needs to set up some feeders. He told me that last year his neighbor killed a 150 class deer (11 points) right on the property next to him. With age, the deer in this county can get really big. Thank God for the antler restrictions and one big buck only from this county. Without these restrictions, these bucks would remain young because everyone there wants to shoot something!

Well the fact that u can only hunt does during bow season seems to damper things in my opinion. I didn't have a ton of does but being able to take one would at least for my mngt/ meat purposes help me to allow bucks to get older. I'm not saying I'm gonna shoot any 13" deer I see but it makes it harder when your not a bow hunter and enjoy bringing home venison. Had an 4 yr old 8 pt that didn't quite make Ars last yr looking forward to seeing him!

To be able to shoot does I have to be a member of the WMA COOP then I get one doe permit for every 200 acres. Can shoot them under MLD and with any weapon at that point. If not a member of the Coop then no doe can be killed. Get you a crossbow if you want to kill does in bow season.

I wish I had the extra money for a crossbow but the oil field has ducked this year!

My brother shot a nice 12pt that scored over 140 in Panna Maria near the cemetery 2 years ago. There are very nice bucks in Karnes County.
He also shot a 7pt with 12" g2s back when we were kids between Panna Maria and Hobson.
We've killed a lot of good 8 points in Karnes county growing up.
We found a 7 point one side shed when planting oats one year near Panna Maria.
I shot a nice 8 pointer 3 years ago near panna Maria.
My cousin had a 150 class buck on camera a few years back behind the mansion in Karnes city.
If you go west near runge the bucks seemed to be bigger bodies.
Falls City has a lot of pressure but there are a lot of nice bucks shot near there every year. If you hunt enough you will see very nice bucks especially during the rut.
Sorry no pics.
As for does, in Panna Maria I used to see 30 doe to every 1 buck. We had MLD Permits on multiple properties in the area and never made a dent.
Then in some areas we wouldn't see many does at all.
A lot depends on the area and how it has been managed. Karnes county varies drastically in deer counts. One property we would see 30 doe and 1 buck, another property 15 miles away we would see 5 bucks and 1 doe, and a property 15 miles from there it was about even. Then another place we rarely saw deer.
