So am I on my Bushnell's and SpyPoint(one model). Already had the Primos at the time and always have D cell but did not keep that many AA's. Now I do. My Primos uses 4 D cell and some AA models use 4 and other ones I have use 6 per camera. I prefer the AA since they are smaller cameras and much lighter.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

I've been running the 35's for going on 6 or 7 years now. The original one has been in the same tree every since I bought it and I've replaced the strap twice. The lens finally got brittle and desintegrated so I bought a junk one on eBay and swapped the guys of the old one into the new case. The other four have all worked great except for one that got filled full of water after the coons tore it down and ripped the SD card plug off. It still works intermittently though.
Old age ain't for sissies!

I'm working on a case of AA I ordered off Amazon a couple years ago. Kid toys have put a dent in them.

Natchez usually has refurbs for sale as well. I picked up two original Primos Truth Cam 35s for $49 a couple of years ago and they're both still going strong. Great pics day and night too. Only downside is D cell batteries. Upside is they last 10,000 pics+ on a set of 4 D cell. I have one left out of my 35s I bought for $45 IIRC for 2 or more 3-4 yrs ago. I never could get mine to 10K. About 4K on a couple and 1 is having issues because it's done after about 1000. I could have easily gotten 10k from mine. I had 3k on average from each camera before I took them down for the season but they still had 65% battery life. Not saying I would buy more, but these two refurbs I bought for $49 each has been money well spent.

The best cams I've used so far are the primos truth cam 46 HD, I don't do pics anymore because sometimes you miss an animal even though it trips the cam, these primos take awesome video. $74 a piece from Natchez, brand new.
