I use Z-Traps which are almost the same thing except they have a two-way trigger (push and pull) instead of the single-way trigger on the Duke. The only thing I ever used was corn. That's what they're at your feeder for, so give them what they want. But make sure you secure that trap very well. Good luck. Scooter would be proud.

ALOT of people use them. They work great. Bait with corn, it's what they keep coming to eat. Maybe some anchovies. Usually just one on top of the corn. Make sure you tie to a tree, I use 100lb wire fishing leader and a couple crimps

I've used both and they work great. Use corn, the ants won't be a problem during warm weather. I hope you ordered the set tool, makes it a lot easier to set them.

Stuff a marshmallow inside and then add peanut butter. Works like a champ.
A screwdriver handle is a perfect fit for the inside diameter of the trap. Step on the trap, insert the handle and set. Easy and simple. Make sure you stake it down good.

I have had a lot of success with them, I put the cheapest dog food you can find in the can and spray some fish oil around the trap. get you some cable and some crimps to tie them of to a tree or fence post and your good to go!

All kinds of stuff works as bait but as stated above, the corn is easiest and Dont attract the ants.

I prefer the Z trap, it has a push pull trigger but also comes powder coated. They are worth the money in corn and destruction alone but usually I skin the coons and get $5-8 more back per coon.

I have used marshmallows and corn, or dry dog food with/without a few drops of vanilla flavoring.
I use the extra scent since I have to set where I think the coons are coming from and trees can sometimes be a bit far off. When I get time to mess with it, I will make some stake kits for mine similar to cross staking a yote trap, then I can set anywhere around my feeder I need too.

Duke traps helped me remove about 15 coons between April and September last year.

I tie them off to the feeder they are robbing or to a t-post with baling wire doubled up. I learned the hard way. Those buggers are stronger than you think. I have only ever used mini marshmallows and they work great. I think they prefer them over the corn, so if there is plenty of corn around, they will definitely check out the trap. BTW - I hate coons, almost as much as hogs and rattlesnakes.

The Duke's work good since that is all I have tried. I use corn, deer protein, sardines, milo, marshmallows, cotton ball soaked in sardine oil, tin foil, fish attractant scent, etc for bait. I caught 26 the first year in 6 months, then 69 the next year and 26 last year. I think I am up to close to 20 this year so far. I do not see many in my TC pics and when I do I usually catch soon after I do.

I have to second the stronger than you'd think line. The first night I set 4 of them, had three coons and one missing trap...

Dukes are great, I have caught well over 300 coons with them. The Z traps are good, just sometimes tricky to set. The Freedom Brand (FB) trap sucks, do not buy them. They were made to be easy to set, but after a few catches they get out of adjustment and you have to fight with them to try and them to set or trip. I gave mine away. I agree about corn for bait, that is all I have ever used.

Do y'all recommend actually putting them in the feeder pens or outskirt's?

I tie mine to the leg of the feeders. Having a coon in one will keep the deer away from that feeder till I remove the coon in the morning though on my place. Something about the clanking of the chain on the feeder leg that the deer just don't like.

Seems to keep their buddies away for awhile also.

I like the Z-traps. Buy them by the dozen. You can make set tools from the heavy wire that barbed wire rolls are made from. Bend in a U and grind 2 little notches near the end. I bait with dry cat food at water tanks and corn at deer feeders. I catch several hundred coons every year. The turkey population has exploded since I started this.

I use Dukes. tried marsh mellows once, but that only attracted fireants, now it's tuna. Ditto on anchoring them down, as I lost one last year. I use a good carabiner and hook on a t post

Something about the clanking of the chain on the feeder leg that the deer just don't like. I do this as well, and my experiences mirror stx's. I'll purposely check the trap on my way to the stand in hopes of silencing the ruckus so deer will feel free to come back in to eat, or another coon.
