My dad passed away the end of June. While cleaning out one of his campers (he was a pack rat \ borderline hoarder I'd say) I came across one of his knives I can remember back into my early childhood. A friend of his made it for him from a railroad car leaf spring. I don't know when it was made, but had to be prior to the early 80's. Anyway, thought I would share it. Maybe I'll look into having a sheath made for it at some point.

Thank you all, he has a lot of stuff, and most of it will be liquidated, but there are things like this knife, a particular shotgun, and an old Harley that I remember being around forever. I'll keep the things like that close to me.

And that Kiddies is why you want a real knife instead of a Havalon throw away. The memories it makes or has when passed down.
David, I am glad that you have the knife to use or just look at.

Likely won't use it, given it's size and weight. Not sure exactly what will be done with it, maybe a mantle piece until I build a house or have a specific place for it. I'm not certain whether it would be best suited for a hip style sheath or something behind the back with a side draw. Be great for cleaning the ol' finger nails I guess. LOL

It is a chunk of steel for sure, don't have to worry about the balance of this blade, it all falls forward lol.
