Nope. Never had an AR fail me. It's always my failure when there's an issue.
All sumer here my pig hunts are a just a quick outing cuz there's too much
work to be done to go out and just have fun. That'll change after hay season.
Anyhow I've still got a lot to learn about hunting thermal. Batteries, no depth
perception, etc. Didn't have the Ranger last night so I hoofed it to the pop up.
Just the rifle, shooting stick, and the big Yeti cup of ice water. Didn't get done
with chores until sunset. No time to find extra batteries and ammo. They were in
my pack but with a bad back I'm doing good just to walk so it is what it is.
I still had a good time and once again was blessed with a bit of fun for the week.

Cheers

Very nice! Looked like the close one was just inches from getting one in the head!

Good shooting and nice video. Those batteries run out at the most in-opportune times. Still learning to use my new thermal also. Hope to get a video soon.

God Bless

I hear ya Man!

The only AR that ever let me down was the 300 Blackout.
Such a waste of time and money for serious hog hunting.

Vern1, I'm surprised to hear that your Blackout has let you down in your hog hunts. I run a 300 Whisper (ballistic twin to the BO) and both sub and supersonic rounds have put the piggies down hard and fast. Most of my shots are well under 100 yards, and I hand load all my fodder. What ammo have you used on your Blackout?

Hows Round Rock, I used to live there in a couple different areas. One was way out in the country. Black dirt field rows as far as the eye could see. Heard that it was all concrete and houses now. flag

Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

LOL - did the DVR reset on the last shot! Funny to here your vibrator.

Good video

P.S. - maybe the thread title should be MY DVR let me down, that'd be a thread where a lot of folks would have stories for.

The DVR remained on. It vibrates to alert no video present. It was the scope which shut down.
This was a quick hunt. Typically I have my pack with extra batteries and would have replaced the dying ones. I had used up about an hour on the scope prior to pigs arriving, videoing a couple of bucks. I got about six to seven hours run time on those batteries at least, my first set to use up on the scope so it's still a learning curve here. So next week, new batteries, no zoom when multiple targets are out, and a bit of weed whacking in front of the pop up.

Cheers

Indeed, good shooting.

I don't understand why the IR Hunter MKII shuts off during recoil when the batteries get low. I have heard other users report this, but yours is the first time that I have seen it demonstrated.

Watching a couple of deer before the pigs arrived, I had full battery or nearly full according to the indicator. Typically once I fire up the scope, I leave it on as it takes about ten minute and four or five NUC's to get it clean and keep it that way for a while. So I learned once it begins to fall, the battery level, the end is near.
