Holy Moly, thank the Lord! Yesterday, my dad showed me his email. "(My name), what is this email? It says two addresses. Did you get it too?"
I check and it's the no-reply TPWD draw hunts thing. I won the first draw for the Jan 16-17 Palo Duro Canyon State Park Youth Gun Deer, antlerless, Hunt!!!

So now, what I need from y'all, is every possible thing to know about hunting muleys and aoudad. Gear, do's, don'ts, and everything in between.

For the canyon practice long long shots. Especially if you want to shoot an aoudaddy!
300 yards plus
Good luck!

Have hunted there twice. Deer are small but would have at least a .243.

Awesome! We hunted Aoudad at Caprock last year and loved it ...Prepare for a cold front even if the forecast says clear skies a week before.

Really? I have permit for WT/Mule doe, "unlimited" aoudad, and "unlimited" feral hogs. Yeah, considering that aoudad are an option and that I want a mule and the long distances, I'll most likely be using my dad's 30-06 (yes i know 22-250 has better trajectory, but it has less power).

Or a 270/7-08 if I can get one by January. grin

PM me you and your dads contact info. I help out on this hunt each year and am friends with the park rangers that run it. You Actually have to drive through the ranch I managed to get there. I can give you all the info you'll need and recommend accommodations. This will be a hunt for you for sure!

Not really. It's assigned blinds for the kids. For safety reasons I don't think they'll let them chase aoudad in the far units. But if one walks past their position they can take it.
