I'm a little worried this year about my lab. She's getting close to ten years old and she doesn't take the heat as well as she used to. Last dove season I made sure she had plenty of cool water and i even had to make her take breaks and skip retrieves. I was wondering if anyone had a good review on a cooling vest? Would it be worth trying out?

Thanks

When I'm hunting an area without a water tank I'll bring a big cooler full of water. I set the cooler full of water in the shade next to the cooler full of beer I'm sitting on. He'll sit in the water and wait for the birds to fall. He retrieves and jumps back in the cooler waiting for the next bird. Works like a champ.

I think a "cooling vest" would be more detrimental than good.

Shade, plenty of water, and prehydration is all that you need.

I carry a hydration bladder and constantly water the dog. If they don't want to drink I just keep the head wet as much as possible.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.
